About Fiordland Equestrian Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Program (FETRP)
Our Team.

Our Mission
Fiordland Equestrian Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Program (FETRP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2024 to create a safe, structured pathway for Thoroughbred racehorses transitioning out of the racing industry. We are dedicated to giving these equine athletes the opportunity to heal, thrive, and succeed beyond the track.
Our mission is to retire, rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome Thoroughbreds in a way that prioritizes their physical and emotional well-being. Many horses leaving the track face uncertain futures; FETRP provides the veterinary care, nutritional support, and individualized training necessary to address their unique needs and prepare them for new careers as sport horses, companions, or therapy partners.
We believe every Thoroughbred deserves a meaningful second chapter. By combining experienced equine management, professional training, and community education, FETRP works to reduce the number of at-risk horses, raise awareness about responsible aftercare, and promote the value of retired racehorses.
Through partnerships, grants, sponsorships, and individual donations, FETRP can expand its reach, provide premium care, and ensure each horse is placed in a safe, suitable, and permanent home.
Our
Vision
At Fiordland Equestrian Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Program (FETRP), we envision a future where every Thoroughbred racehorse has access to compassionate, comprehensive aftercare and a secure, fulfilling life beyond the track. We strive to become a model for excellence in equine rehabilitation by blending best-in-class veterinary care, individualized training, and thoughtful rehoming practices. Through education, advocacy, and community partnerships, we aim to transform public perception of retired racehorses, creating a world where these athletes are celebrated for their versatility, resilience, and potential in second careers.
