• Leading & Ground Manners - Chessie leads well in a plain halter and lead rope. She is always the first in the field to greet you, enjoys handgrazing and handwalking around the farm.

• Grooming & Tacking - Chessie loves being pampered! She stands beautifully on cross ties and is very patient during tacking up. 

• Horse Care - Chessie wears front shoes. She has a club foot so regular farrier appointments are important. She eats our normal grain ration of Tribute Resolve and currently lives outside 24/7 with one - two mares. She has been turned out with geldings and does well but gets attached.

• Riding - Currently lunging to get back into work, she has been ridden a few times by staff and showed us her talented movement and smart thinking! Prior to joining FETRP, Chessie was fully  restarted under saddle by a professional rider and was coursing small jumps with a lead change. She has experience toting around a confident junior rider. Athletic and forward-thinking, she has GORGEOUS gaits and enjoys having a job. After having a full year off, she will need a confident rider to get her back into work and tuned up. Once in a program, she would love an amateur adult or junior rider. 

• General Demeanor - Chessie is as classy as them come. She is a great advocate for chestnut mares proving that stereotypes aren't always accurate. She is kind, patient, and loves attention. Chessie his farrier and vet approved! Has no vices, no maintenance, and trailers very well. 

• Physical Capability - Chessie is looking for a moderate, low impact career. Low level dressage, western, and jumping 2'6" and under. She is not suitable for high-impact disciplines (e.g. eventing and barrel racing). With a tune up and some miles, Chessie would be an amazing lease prospect for a lesson/show barn looking to add another horse to their barn for their advanced riders!
